Rogers Stadium Sustains ‘Significant Damage’ During Toronto Storm

Rogers Stadium in Toronto sustained “significant damage” after a powerful storm swept through the city on Wednesday, September 2, leaving portions of the outdoor concert venue visibly damaged.

Live Nation Canada, which operates the 50,000-capacity stadium, said no injuries were reported during the severe weather event. The company is now evaluating the damage and determining whether it could affect upcoming concerts.

“As always, the safety of our employees and on-site contractors is our top priority,” a Live Nation Canada spokesperson said in a statement. “Fortunately, no one was injured during the extreme weather event.”

The company added, “We are currently assessing the extent of the damage and will provide further information as it becomes available.”

Photographs taken after the storm showed sections of the stadium’s temporary grandstands partially collapsed, with blue seats scattered across the structure and surrounding grounds. Part of the red covering on the venue’s exterior sign also appeared to have been torn away.

It was not immediately clear how long repairs would take or whether the damage would force changes to the venue’s remaining schedule. AC/DC is scheduled to bring its “Power Up Tour” to Rogers Stadium on September 16. Live Nation had not announced a cancellation or postponement for the concert as of Thursday.

Rogers Stadium most recently hosted BTS on August 23. The venue opened on June 29, 2025, on the former Downsview Airport property in North York and was designed to accommodate as many as 50,000 concertgoers.

The storm represents another challenge for the relatively new venue. After Rogers Stadium opened, some attendees criticized its transportation options, crowd management and other operational issues. Nearby residents and local officials also raised concerns about noise from concerts. Live Nation subsequently said it would make adjustments to improve the guest experience and address community complaints.
