Tom Felton Reveals Final Extension in 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' on Broadway

Tom Felton isn’t done bringing the magic to Broadway just yet.

The film star, who portrayed Harry Potter’s nemesis Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter films, will continue his reprising role as Malfoy in Broadway’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” through 2027. Felton first returned to the role in November 2025. While he was originally only scheduled for a limited, 19-week engagement, this will mark his third extension in the production.

The newly-announced extension will see Felton continue the role through January 3, 2027. As previously revealed, Felton will not be performing on select dates: August 17-23, September 14-20, and October 12-18

Since Felton made his Broadway debut in “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child,” the show has consistently held the No. 1 spot on the Broadway grosses and remains the highest-grossing production in the history of the Lyric Theatre, even setting a box-office record at $.7 million for the nine-performance week ending December 28, 2025.

“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Felton shared in a statement when his role was first announced. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. 

“It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes—and of course his iconic platinum blond hair—and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.”

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” — the magical story that takes place 19 years after “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows” — arrived on Broadway in 2018 and officially became the fifth longest-running Broadway play in history, surpassing 1978’s “Deathtrap.” 

The play delves into the story of Harry’s son, Albus, who befriends Scorpius Malfoy — the son of Harry’s rival, Draco. Both boys enter a journey where they’re met with the power to change the past — and future — forever.
