TicketNetwork, a comprehensive source for event tickets, has tracked the prices for Hannah Montana tickets and recent estimates point to a decrease in prices for tickets available on the secondary market. TicketNetwork is the parent company of TicketNews.
The concert tour, featuring Miley Cyrus, quickly rose to become the hottest event of the year among “tweens” and their parents and the few available tickets were selling at very high prices. While ticket resellers have been the scapegoat for soaring prices, the secondary market has actually kept prices down, making more seats available at an affordable price for fans eager to attend the tour.
Ironically, the tour’s concert organizers themselves have withheld tickets from the general public, forcing the prices to skyrocket. “In most cities, concert organizers held back a whopping seventy percent of the available tickets from sale to the public at each venue,” Don Vaccaro, CEO of TicketNetwork, said in a statement. He added, “At some arenas, the tour’s concert organizers, not ticket brokers, auctioned off tickets for as much as $2,600 each.”
As more tickets reach the secondary market, prices have dropped making more seats available to consumers. On the leading secondary ticket exchange TicketNetwork.com, a wide range of tickets to the Hannah Montana tour are available for under $100, with tickets to the Minneapolis show starting at $70. According to Vaccaro, “These prices are bound to fall even further if concert organizers continue to release the 250,000 tickets that were never sold initially.”
Last week, a CNN news crew stopped by the offices of TicketNetwork to interview Vaccaro about the Hannah Montana ticket controversy.
