Red Clay Strays to Headline Regions Arena Grand Opening

The Red Clay Strays will headline the grand opening of Regions Arena in their hometown of Mobile, Alabama, on March 26, 2027.

St. Paul & The Broken Bones will support the concert, which will be the first live event held at the new downtown arena.

“We are looking forward to playing a hometown show again,” The Red Clay Strays said in the announcement. “We’ve been gone way too long!”

The 10,000-capacity Regions Arena is a reported $300 million project being constructed on the site of the former Mobile Civic Center. The aging civic center was demolished to make way for a modern venue capable of hosting concerts, sporting events, touring productions and family entertainment.

Erik Hudson, general manager of Regions Arena, called the opening concert a “historic night for the venue and for Mobile.”

The hometown booking gives Regions Arena an established touring act with direct connections to the Gulf Coast market. The Red Clay Strays formed in Mobile and have moved from regional venues to major arenas and festivals during the past several years.

Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said the concert will help launch the new venue into an era that includes national touring acts, sports and family shows.

Regions Arena has also announced two performances by comedian Matt Mathews for April 4, shortly after the venue’s opening. Additional programming is expected to be revealed as construction moves toward completion.

Presales for the grand-opening concert begin September 22. The Verified Diehards presale opens at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the Verified Strays presale at noon. A presale for users of The Red Clay Strays’ official app begins September 23 at 10 a.m. CT.

All presales end September 24 at 10 p.m. CT. Tickets go on sale to the general public September 25 at 10 a.m. CT through the band’s official website.

The announcement arrives as The Red Clay Strays continue touring behind their third studio album, Grateful. The band’s current North American headline run has included performances at TD Garden in Boston, Madison Square Garden in New York and Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

The remaining schedule includes a September 26 appearance at Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville, Kentucky, followed by two-night engagements at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Additional stops include State Farm Arena in Atlanta and MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
