Las Vegas Stadium Authority Approves $75 Million for Allegiant Stadium Upgrades

The Las Vegas Stadium Authority has unanimously approved using up to $75 million toward a proposed $158 million renovation of Allegiant Stadium.

The project will overhaul the stadium’s North Entry, one of its busiest access points, as Las Vegas prepares to host another Super Bowl in 2029. The Las Vegas Raiders will cover the remaining costs outside the funding approved by the authority.

The Stadium Authority’s contribution will come from the Waterfall Residual Fund, which was established as part of the stadium financing structure under Nevada Senate Bill 1. The fund may be used for early stadium debt repayment, capital improvements or infrastructure projects at and around the venue.

Officials said the approved funding will not require a new tax or an additional allocation of general public money.

The renovation is intended to ease congestion around the North Entry, particularly for attendees approaching the stadium from the Las Vegas Strip. Many visitors reach the venue by crossing the Hacienda Bridge, which can create pedestrian and vehicle bottlenecks during major events.

Plans developed by architecture firm Grimshaw include a raised pedestrian deck extending from the West Hacienda Avenue overpass to the stadium’s northern gate. The walkway would create a more direct route between the Strip and Allegiant Stadium while improving crowd movement before and after events.

Transportation improvements are also planned beneath the pedestrian deck. Those additions include a dedicated passenger pick-up and drop-off area designed to improve vehicle circulation and rideshare operations.

The project also anticipates the construction of a future station connecting Allegiant Stadium to The Boring Company’s underground tunnel network.

A large canopy spanning the redesigned entry plaza is another central part of the proposal. In addition to providing shade for fans waiting to enter the stadium, the covered area could host smaller concerts, promotional activations and community events.

Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan called the approval “another important investment in the future of Allegiant Stadium.”

“These improvements will enhance access to and from the stadium, improve traffic flow and rideshare operations,” Morgan said.

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO Steve Hill said continued investment in Allegiant Stadium is important as other destinations pursue new stadium projects and compete for major events.

“Keeping Allegiant Stadium the No. 1 stadium in the country is a priority for all of us,” Hill said.

Allegiant Stadium opened in July 2020 and has since hosted 151 major ticketed events, according to the Raiders. More than 7 million people have attended events at the venue, generating an estimated $10.6 billion in economic activity.

Preliminary design work on the North Entry renovation is underway. Construction is expected to begin during the third quarter of 2027 and be completed by the end of 2028.
