Skylar Astin, Sarah Hyland Set for West End Debuts in ‘Cabaret’

Skylar Astin and Sarah Hyland are set to join the West End revival of “Cabaret” this fall, taking over two of the production’s central roles at the Kit Kat Club in London.

Beginning September 21, Astin will play the Emcee, while Hyland will take on the role of Sally Bowles. The two actors will make their West End debuts with the production. Astin is scheduled to remain with the musical through December 12, while Hyland is set to continue in the role through January 23, 2027.

The incoming performers will join several other new members of the “Cabaret” company. Ronan Burns will play Ernst Ludwig, while Lindsay Atherton will portray Fraulein Kost and Fritzie. Lily Frances, Peter Houston, Samuel How, Bailey Johnson, Ellie Mitchell, Kirsty Anne Shaw, Natasha Wilde and Nicky Wong Rush are also joining the company.

Baker Mukasa will continue as Clifford Bradshaw, with Ruthie Henshall as Fraulein Schneider and Robert Hands as Herr Schultz. Joe Atkinson, Xavion Campbell-Brown, Olivia-Rose Deer, Anya Ferdinand, Danny Fogarty, Adrian Grove and Eva-Rose Tanaka will also remain with the production.

The current prologue company features Isobel Bates, Rachel Benson, Ami Benton, Jonathan Charles, Shanelle Clemenson, Andrew Linnie, Zara Liu, Dak Mashava, Brian James O’Sullivan, Jack William Parry and Shiho Yokoyama.

Until the September cast change, Jamie Muscato is leading the production as the Emcee, with Joy Woods playing Sally Bowles. 

The London production recently passed its 1,900th performance, making it the longest-running staging of “Cabaret” in West End history. It is currently scheduled to play through September 18, 2027.

The production will also mark two milestones this year. November 20 will mark the 60th anniversary of “Cabaret”, which first opened on Broadway in 1966, as well as the fifth anniversary of the current revival. 

The current revival opened in London in December 2021 and went on to win a record seven Olivier Awards. It later transferred to Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre, where it closed September 21, 2025.
